Hers and Hers: Gold Glitter

Hello Lovelies!! I hope you are having a fabulous day! Now I am not one to be matchy, matchy with my daughter, but I have noticed that I am buying her clothes that are similar in ways to some of the things I buy for myself. I love to have a special bond with my daughter and if that means dressing somewhat alike, then I am all for it....at least for now in her toddler years :)

A few weeks back, I was looking for a cute pair of brown sandals to wear as another option to my previously purchased ones. I like a good neutral shoe with a bit of detail from time to time so when I found these sandals from Rampage at TJMaxx I was smitten. The gold glitter detail along the toes was a cute accessory of shimmer and the cross over straps was complimentary in adding a simple touch to this classic sandal.

Shortly after finding the perfect pair of sandals to add to my collection, I found myself in Old Navy looking for some workout clothes. After picking out some tanks and sports bras, I decide to rummage through their clearance section. I love hitting up their clearance section and find they always have a great selection of clothes to buy. From basic shirts to dresses, it's one of my favorite go to spots for goodies! With two shirts and a knit sweater in hand I started for the cash register, but noticed something sparkly on the shelf. Sitting there were these darling little gold flats that were screaming to go on my daughter's feet. Of course at the price I just had to pick them up.

Old Navy 8.00

Now believe me when I say this purchase was not intentional. I hadn't even noticed we had similar shoes until we both got dressed one day and were wearing them. The funny thing about it is that these flats are actually her favorite ones. What can I say, she's a fashionista in the making!

Kuerig Brew Over Ice Review and Giveaway - Closed

Hello Lovelies!! I hope you are having a fabulous day! So I have something new to share with you and I hope that you love it just as much as I do. I know that Accidentally Stylish usually entails some fabulous fashion finds (oooh I may have to use that again) and goodies displaying my personal style, but I wanted to share with you another form of great style. Allow me to share with you my love for great refreshments...on ice!

Last week I received a exciting package from The Brew Over Ice Team at Keurig to review. Now I loooooooovveee me my Keurig. Especially the Brew Over Ice K-Cups. I remember the first time I tried one at my last job -- a sweet tea blend of half tea half lemonade. I was skeptic at first, but let me tell you, I have been addicted, ADDICTED to brewing beverages over ice. So when I was given the chance to review some brew over ice products, bet I took the opportunity and ran with it!!

In the cool (no pun intended) box they included:

  •  3 Brew Over Ice K-Cup samples
  • 1 Brew Over Ice tumbler
  • 4 Brew Over Ice coasters
  • 1 Brew Over Ice light-up ice bucket and ice tongs

Isn't it cute!! I love how they included the Kuerig blue light throughout the ice bucket and design on the  tumbler. It just looks sooo....chill! :) How could you not want to get started and brew something delicious on ice?

I couldn't wait to try out some of the sample cups. Iced coffee and tea are my usual go to drinks, but I was curious about the vitamin burst. I wanted a change of pace with something a bit fruity and refreshing, so I figured why not, let's give it a try.

It's as simple as filling the tumbler with ice, placing the K-cup in the Keurig, and press brew. Within a few minutes my cool beverage was ready to be devoured....

and my verdict?

DELICIOUS!!!

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it! Even my husband liked it and he is not much for fruity drinks. There are so many varieties of Brew Over Ice K-Cups available and I am really looking forward to purchasing some more...including the Vitamin Burst of course!

So now that I am in complete iced bliss, it's your turn to share in the chill! The Brew Over Ice team has graciously gifted me with a sample kit to giveaway to you! Yes lovelies, one lucky winner will receive the same cool pack I received and be in icy heaven just like me!

Lost and Found

Hello Lovelies!!! How have you been? I know, I know, it's been a while...okay, okay it's been months since I wrote a post!! *SIGH* Well lovelies, I must admit that I have been through the ringer and back. Throughout it all, you have been on my mind. Let me admit to you that there have been some troubling. challenging, what word can I use...ah, unfortunately fortunate events happening and it took until now for me to muster up the courage to tell you. So... here it is...

My beautiful readers, my absence from the blogosphere has not been because I do not love you, but merely because life has been,...well life. And oh how important the value of life is. Scenario breakdown: Mid February of this year I was told that I was being laid off from my job. The office location I was working at decided that it was time to lift their roots and embark on a more upscale hemisphere, therefore leaving me to fend for another bill paying legion of doom (isn't that what work really is? hahaha!!). Thankfully, through the outsource company I work for I was able to transfer over to another company they service. Great news for me because this meant that I would end my old job one week and start my new job the following week with no interruption in pay. SWEET!! While that was a rather exciting conclusion and beginning in my employment, I had a rather surprising beginning in my personal field.

Shortly after receiving the news of my new job position, I found out that I was pregnant with my second child. It was amazing seeing a positive sign on the tinkle stick *tee-hee* Sorry for that rather graphic illustration, but I just couldn't resist myself. My husband and I were extremely excited and I thought for sure that everything would work out with no hiccups. Unfortunately, at my first doctor's appointment to determine the estimated due date, fetal measurement and so on the doctor did not pick up a heartbeat on the ultrasound. Yes lovelies, at 9 weeks with no heartbeat and a fetus that measured around 7.5 weeks I was diagnosed with my first miscarriage...ever.

Oh believe me when I say it was devastating! I couldn't believe that this was happening to me. ME!! Yeah I know, no one is immune to anything in life, but you just never think some things would happen to you. It was a very difficult time for me emotionally, but it was also a time of spiritual growth and renewal. You see...though the baby-to-be only had a heartbeat for a short amount of time, I still experienced something extremely special. Life. Yes LIFE!!! Though I didn't get to see those beautiful rosy cheeks, tiny toes, and heart-warming smile, I still had the chance to experience something wonderful...someone wonderful who for a short while lived in me. I am truly blessed to be able to say that life comes in all shapes and forms. In my heart I have two children, knowing that my spiritual child is at peace with the Lord above.

So you see my friends, I have literally been through the 'Lost and Found'. I lost a job and gained a new one. I lost held a life and one day soon will hold a new one. I am looking forward to the day that I am pregnant again, but I found that there is life in new beginnings. With change comes growth and in growth comes awakening. I am open to discovering greater things in life and this journey through my life experiences makes me stronger, braver, and more confident in the person I am now, and the person I aim to be. What's that you ask? Nothing else, but Accidentally Me!!

Guest Post: Kaki Read, Fashion Coordinator at Warby Parker

Hello Lovelies! How are you doing this fine Monday? I hope you're feeling sweet because I know you are looking chic!

Recently I was introduced to a fabulous eyewear company, via the IFB Conference, Warby Parker! Warby Parker specializes in vintage-inspired eyewear with a contemporary twist. From optical to sunglasses, they offer stylish eyewear that not only looks great, but is reasonably priced. Today's guest post is brought to you by Kaki Read, the fashion coordinator at Warby Parker. She comes with great tips on how eyewear can be a great fashion statement to your look. I may have to pick up a pair myself! Enjoy!

Wherever You Go: Dressing As Yourself
Kaki Read – Fashion Coordinator at Warby Parker

No matter how well stocked your closet is, you can be sure that you are going to need a fair amount of time and effort to look your best. The key to dressing well is to be ready for any and all occasions. Whether you are heading off to work or you are heading off to play, consider a few set outfits for when you need to leave the home.

Off to Work
When you are at work, you need to be taken seriously, so that means that your work clothes need to be on the neutral side of things. Grays, blacks, browns and dark blues are very common for work clothes, but once you have your basic skirt, pants and blouse options worked out you can add some color and some personality. For example, a beige suit looks lovely, but what happens if you add an umber scarf to the mix? On the other hand, why not give your face a pop of color by adding some bold vintage-inspired eyeglasses? Remember that a small dash of color can make an enormous difference when you want to create a look that is uniquely your own.

Off to Work

Out and About
When you step out for a great time, remember that you need to take a moment to consider how you are dressed. Sounds obvious, right? For example, think about heading out for some clothes shopping with your friends. When you are going to be out and trying on clothes, you need to keep things simple, as you will be getting undressed and redressed on a regular basis. Stick with a comfy shirt and a skirt for the easiest options. Consider a relatively fitted shirt and a light denim skirt paired with a pair of sturdy flats. If it’s a sunny day, glam it up with oversized sunglasses to pull everything together!

Out n' About

If you are someone who loves fashion, and if you want to include conscious fashion decisions throughout your life, take a moment to think about what your choices are. Your closet can provide you with more options than you ever thought possible, so take a moment to consider how you are going to move forward with your goals.

Splurge or Save

Hello Lovelies! I don't know about you, but I am ready for bright colors right about now. Not sure if neon is going to make a comeback for spring/summer this year but it still has a warm place in my heart...and closet.

If you're a bit unsure of this fluorescent shade why not try adding it with your accessories. A great tip that I learned is that by adding a questionable pattern or color to your outfit via an accessory, you can try out the fad without fully committing to it. One way I like to give new looks a try is with my handbags. By simply swapping out the handbag with different outfit pairings, it gives me a better idea of how I could possibly play off the look in a bigger article of clothing say a shirt or even pants.

Speaking of handbags, I was looking through my usual shopping sites and found these lovely bags at different prices. You know I am all about a good Splurge or Save comparison!

Whether you skip in the shallow end or dive into the deeper end of your wallet, you are bound to find a stylish look at a price you are happy with. Neon handbags. Would you Splurge or Save?

Chic Spring Wishlist

Hello Lovelies! Today marks 14 days 'til the first day of Spring! Hooray!! We are finally just two weeks out and I can't wait. I've had enough of the frigid winter chills and cold weather frills. It's time to pull out the sweet floral prints and candy pastel tints.

I am onboard the spring welcoming bandwagon and now I need to get my closet on board. Recently while searching the web for some fun spring articles to add to my wardrobe I discovered a fabulous clothing site called Chicnova. Along with great items to wear from their spring collection, they offer unique clothing and accessories that are sure to make you stand out against the colorful spring blooms.

From flirty lace to pops of floral, their spring collection offers a taste of whimsy any fashionista would love. I for one am buzzing over a few items myself.

Cork It

Hello Lovelies! I hope you're having a great weekend! What am I up to? Oh nothing, just taking a leisurely fingertip stroll through the online retail haven of my computer. It's a great pass time, don't you think? One of my http:// "pit" stops was Lulu's since I haven't gandered at their lovely items in a while. Shame on me for not visiting them as often as I should! They have so many great things--how could I forget to stop by the site to say hi--naughty naughty.

In my reuniting with the brand, I fell in love with this cork tote and these strappy wedges. They would be perfect for spring/summer with floral maxi dresses, weathered skinny jeans, and anything thinner than the heavy layers I've been wearing all winter long. Notice a trend amongst the two? I didn't realize it at first but after looking them over an unusual texture graces both of them. Did you guess what it is? If you guessed cork then you are correct! Two snaps for you!

This neutral print most associated with bottling wine adds a vision of interest to decor, but in fashion can it really go beyond the typical cork wedge shoe? I never thought about it much before, but maybe--just maybe there was something to this whole cork thing. On my mission to find more cork styles, I came across six fabulous items I think you would approve!

What do you think? Could cork be the new nude?

Splurge or Save

Hello Lovelies! It's March 1st, can you believe it! With each day that passes we are getting closer to the warmer weather here in New England. In anticipation of the heat to come I am getting a head start on updating my sandal collection. It's all about finding deals where I can and a sandal that is more than the average flip flop. Plus, I want to get the style I want at the price I want before the madness starts with sandal season.

I've always loved the style of DV by Dolce Vita sandals. They are casual enough to wear with jeans and a white tee, but the gold accents give it a sleeker finish so you can easily wear them with your favorite summer maxi. At $69.00 a pair they are definitely an investment and solid summer staple, but I couldn't resist the urge to search for a pair similar in style for a lower price. For every Splurge there has to be a Save (not dupe) out there somewhere--per my last Splurge or Save post.

Splurge or Save

Though the DV by Dolce Vita sandals hold a sweet spot in my retail heart, the Target sandals hit the sweet spot of my lightweight wallet. For the price of one pair of Dolce Vita sandals I can buy two other colors in addition to the black pair from Target. That works for me! :) Either way you go it is a win-win situation. You turn out with a fabulous summer sandal!

Have you found any great Splurge or Save options lately?

Cobalt and Zebra

Hello Lovelies! It's been a while since I posted an outfit of the day post, simply because it's kinda difficult to take pictures of yourself. So when my friend Alexandra offered to take pictures of me I jumped on-board! This is the outfit I wore to the IFB Conference earlier this month. I wanted to go for something chic and modern, but fun and still true to who I am. When in doubt I love to throw on a bright blazer.

White Collar Shirt - Thrifted // Zebra Dress - Marshalls // Cobalt Blazer - Forever21 //
Black Opaque Tights - Spanx // Black Booties - Target // Coach Wristlet - Gifted By My Cousin
// Movado Watch - Gifted By My Huby // Silver Chain Necklace - H&M

Thanks to Alexandra of She is Red for taking such amazing pictures for me! xoxo

IFB Conference

Hello Lovelies! A few weeks ago I attended my first IFB (Independent Fashion Bloggers) Conference in the fabulous NYC. It was at the start of NYFW and needless to say there was plenty of chic-ness to go around!  Between the panels, brand experiences, and impeccably dressed bloggers the day was truly filled with many smiles, laughter, and finger snaps!

Upon entering the conference, I was immediately greeted by the bright colors of the bareMinerals table. On display was their new Remix: Turn Up The Color collection. Bold colors for spring with a touch of whimsy? Count me in!

I stepped right up for a mini makeover and walked away with the same products they used to create my doll face. If that wasn't the bees knees both of the lovely ladies giving the mini makeovers were also named Erin. Coincidence? I don't think so! :)

Throughout the day I got the honor to spend it with an amazing blogger, friend, and just out right chic (and super sweet) red-head. Alexandra of She is Red was my hangout buddy and I am sooo happy I met her at the LuckyFABB conference last year. She is one of the most sweetest, warm hearted people I know and I am looking forward to more blogger outings with her!

Next to the colorful bareMinerals display booth was MailChimp offering knitted monkey hats and fun chimp printed T-shirts to DIY. I didn't go too crazy with the bedazzler but studs did make it onto mine. I'll have to post an OOTD with it soon.

The brand experiences continued with the great hairstyling of the Fekkai booth, offering touch ups throughout the day. Alex and Ani displayed a table of bangle love, perfect for stacking and their photo booth was a true riot! We had so much fun we went in it twice!

IFB was filled with many surprises and one that I will never...EVER forget is when supermodel Tyson Beckford popped up at the Monster booth. Everyone was swarming around him with their cameras and grins from cheek to cheek.

It was a little intimidating at first seeing him standing there in all his handsome features. It took me a while to muster up the courage to ask him for a picture. I was so nervous I didn't know what to do with my hands so I threw both of my arms around him and clenched on tight. Believe me when I say the whole action wasn't planned...really! ;)

Between the ten minute breaks to enjoy the brand experiences, informative panels graced the stage of the loft auditorium. From affiliate marketing to ways to increase longevity for your blog, the tips were endless and guest speakers inspiring.

The IFB Conference is definitely something every fashion blogger should go to at least once. It's a great way to network with other bloggers and come to know how brands interact with them. I'm looking forward to the next one!

Double-take: Black and Red

Hello Lovelies! This past weekend while hanging out on the couch searching the internet for a statement necklace I came across these two lovelies. At first glance my eyes were drawn to this bold red coral necklace. It would be perfect to add a pop of color to a simple outfit and the design of the coral would be fun for the summer. It's unique, fun, and bright--defintely something I could see myself wearing a lot. I was convinced it was the perfect statement necklace for me, but then I ran across this black beauty. The gold detailing of the circles with the surrounding black gems looked regal, fitting for royalty like me ;)

That's when I started to think. These necklaces made me do a double-take. They are similar in scale and unique style, but differ in color--they're stylish fraternal twins. So of course the curious fashion finder inside me thought, why not look into other black and red fraternal findings that make me look twice.

Fraternal twins in fashion...who knew? Have you made and double-takes lately?

Winter Recipe

Hello Lovelies and Happy Friday!! Can you believe it? We finally reached the end of the week. I am so happy too since I really need these next two days to just relax and de-stress. I'm talking about eating an oversized bowl of ice cream in my pajamas while sitting on the couch, watching endless movies with my DD and DH. Yup, extra special plans for this girl right here!

Now of course if I was to make plans to go out this weekend I would have to wear something suitable for the cold weather. The key is to be warm and comfortable, but cute and not frumpy. Dark colors tend to draw in heat, but lighten it up from the usual drab with some color. Sounds like the perfect recipe for a chic winter outfit to me.

Winter Recipe

To me pops of color in my wardrobe are like salt and fresh herbs to the food I eat. It intensifies the flavor on the palette and adds visual appeal to the garment "meal". It's a delish blend if you know what I mean!

What kind of "ingredients" do you use for your perfect winter outfit recipe?

Spring into Citrine Neon

Hello Lovelies! Let me just start off by saying that I am tired of the winter. Yup I'm TIRED OF THE COLD! I mean what's the point of having it so cold outside? Your skin stays dry no matter how much lotion you rub on. Your lips chap up no matter how much water you drink. Sweaters and boots start to feel like dead weights in your closet. I mean come on, besides the occasional snowman you'll build, possible sleighing, and multiple layered look (mainly because you have to stay warm), what is the possible cause for the frigid air? Is there a point?

So far I haven't found a valid one except that it is to drive me crazy. Would it be bad to say that I envy my Miami friends right now? How lucky they are to feel the warm sun peaking through the clouds. Feel the cool breeze run off the ocean against their sun bathed skin. *Sigh* Yes, I long to be somewhere warmer now. Sadly, I can't escape this prison mother nature has placed upon me. Not for a few months at least. Maybe if I wore brighter clothing say like this citrine neon, I might feel a bit more like spring is coming.

Citrine Neon

It's bright like the sun, pairs great with neutral colors like gray, and could possibly bring a bit more warmth into my hum-drum winter getups. Just looking at it makes me happy...and warm...and excited for the heat to come... *Sigh* Spring just can't get here fast enough. Are you feeling the winter blues too?

Wear the Trend: Wedge Sneakers

Hello Lovelies!! I am back! YES, YES, YES!! I can't tell you how much I have missed you. This week has been such a torture for me--as you could imagine from my last post. There are some things going on in my life that I have been trying to figure out and deal with. Not to say that it is all over, wounds healed, I'm completely renewed, but it is better. For now I can deal with that.

As to shake off my idling blues and press the refresh button on my frozen human screen I figured there's no better place than to start with a post called "Wear the Trend". When I see the latest and greatest style--the next best thing--I am tempted to have it and make it my own. The only problem is sometimes while holding it in my hand and evaluating it in the store, I am not sure how I would wear it. Moments like that a girl needs a visual before committing and thanks to Polyvore I can do so prior to buying. Thank you Fashion Gods for Polyvore!!!

Wear the Trend: Wedge Sneakers

Get the Look: Black Wedge Sneakers: Target; Tan Wedge Sneakers: Payless

When looking at the wedge I figured I needed to think out of the box. Yes it's a sneaker...but it's a wedge. A wedge is at times a bit more comforable than say a heel or pump--don't quote me on that. With that in mind, I decided to have a bit of fun with the casual black and nude "pumps".

Wedge Sneaker Look 1

This black wedge found at Target is a fun way to play around with some of your dressy skirts. It adds a touch of urban chic with the neon accessories and denim jacket to a flirty black feather skirt. Rock them with your favorite band T-shirt or a killer sleeveless collared shirt with a bow and I'd say this look is a true showstopper--or party starter.

Wedge Sneaker Look 2

For a casual outfit, these tan wedges from Payless give height to this sweet layered look. Pops of color and sparks of gold add flare to the casual footwear. It's the relaxed, laid back cousin of the ever classic nude pump.

The more I look at these shoes, I am starting to feel confident that I could pull this style off. Of course I don't want to buy a pair that's too trendy looking or expensive since, let's face it, trends don't last for long. As the fabulous Heidi Klum would say "One day they're in the next they're out!" I just love her and Project Runway! These two wedges are great options to try the trend out while not blowing your budget.

How do you feel about this trend? Would you try it and if so, how would you style yours?

Be Different

Hello Lovelies! I am so sorry I have been M.I.A lately. You've missed me (I hope) and I have missed you.

As the road of life goes, it sometimes takes sharp turns that are at times hard to follow. I'm stagnant at a yield sign in the fork of the road. Pardon me as my decisions take a sudden break, an abrupt halt more like it into an idle position. I have so many great things that I want to share with you and I will...just not right now. Please bear with me as I switch my gears and change directions.

As always I vow to remain true to myself and the things I believe in. Sharing with you my latest and greatest finds, my passions, my style, my life. Today's mantra is on repeat in my mind and my heart--for now I leave you with this, but expect great things to come. Great things...

Splurge or Save

Hello Lovelies!! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend! Today is SuperBowl Sunday! Woo-hoo! Are you watching the big game? If not for the love of football then at least for the halftime show with the Diva-licious Beyonce? I know I will...for both reasons.

I can only imagine just how extravagant the show is going to be. Not to mention what kind of outfit she's going to wear. I'm sure it's going to be dazzled out with jewels or crystals of some sort. You know she's all about going big!

Speaking of going big, the thought of indulging in lavish style inspired me to look into splurge vs save items. When it comes to a look that I want, my goal is to get the best deal possible for it. Don't get me wrong, I would love to buy the latest and greatest thing at first sight, but sometimes--actually most times--it's not in my budget to do so. Therefore a similar (not dupe) item comes into play as one did in my last Splurge or Save post.
