Splurge or Save

Hello Lovelies! Recently I discovered a very important fact. There is no denying the truth when it can come and bite you in the butt, or in my case my wallet--if I'm not careful. Yes ladies and gents I have discovered that I am no doubt head over heels, gaga-fied, in love with........shoes........the horror.....THE HORROR!!! I am an addict for shoes. High heels, flats, boots, you name it. I have fallen victim to the dreaded shoe lover curse. I enjoy looking at them, talking to them, petting them, taking them for long strolls in the park--(insert scene from "Lord of The Rings") Myyyy Preeccciiooouuss--Okay that was a creepy moment. Sorry about that, but seriously I really love shoes.

Besides the black booties and cognac boots from my last post, my latest drool has to be for the Valentino studded pump. The rocker chic detailing on the 'Rockstud' and 'T-Strap' pump immediately caught my attention. Strategically placed golden pyramid studs line the straps of the patent leather pointed toe shoe giving it a ladylike silhouette with a touch of edge. It's a look that is great for dressing up a pair of jeans or that LBD you have sitting your closet. This shoe with all its glory is perfect for pairing with just about anything you can think of. The style is right up my alley--unfortunately, it's not within my budget. So when I came across similar pumps at Shoedazzle I was stoked! I didn't have to eat ramen noodles for 6 months as I originally planned to do. Instead I could save and get the studded look that I crave.

There are noticeable differences between the pumps. Obviously the price is a huge difference with the Valentino pumps costing $895 as oppose to Shoedazzle's version at $39.95. Though the closure of the heels, finish of the shoe, and studded straps are different,  the overall feel I think is present between them both. As much as I would love to purchase the Valentino pumps, realistically I can't right now. A girl can't survive off only noodles and water alone. Well maybe I could......as long as I have a great pair of shoes on.

Fall Wish List

Hello Lovelies! Fall has to be one of my favorite seasons to get dressed for. The colors, the textures, they are all just so complimentary to the changing leaves and crisp air. One of the things I love about fall fashion is being able to wear layers. Layering clothing brings on a whole new perspective to an already great article of clothing. For example, on its own a plaid shirt is phenomenal, but put a faux fur vest over it with skinny jeans and cognac boots and you have yourself a stellar outfit.

There's just something special about layers that brings on a sense of appreciation for the cooler temperatures. The only thing now is I don't have a faux fur vest...or a plaid shirt. Come to think of it, I don't have cognac riding boots either...oh, fudge pickles! So if I was to put together a fall wardrobe wish list for my closet this would be it. Well at least part of it. I mean come on, with all the great fashion selections out there how can a girl just stick to one board? It's a bit difficult to limit myself, but I have to start somewhere.

Fall Wish List

1. A Versatile Cape
2. A Red (and various colors) Blazer
3. Cargo Twill Vest
4. Cognac Riding boots
5. Faux Fur Vest
6. Plaid Shirt (preferably red)
7. A Striped Skirt
8. ANYTHING Black and Gold
9. Black Booties
10. Brown Lace Up Brogues

Oh the possibilities I would have with these lovely additions to my wardrobe. The wonderful outfits I could make and wear. The many compliments I would receive on my fabulous pairings. *Sigh*. It will take some time to obtain my dream selection, but for now I'll gaze upon this inspiration board. Maybe if I stare at it long enough they will just magically appear in my closet...(staring...staring intensely...nothing happening)...oh well, a girl can dream...or just save up. Now where is that piggy bank.

Vintage Luxe Meets Modern Silk

Hello Lovelies! I hope you are having a great weekend! Have you done anything fun and exciting this weekend? Or even better, have you found a stylish deal you just couldn't resist? I know I did...both actually. Friday evening I received a much anticipated package in the mail. After a mix up with the shipping address and having to pay again for it to get re-shipped out to me (kinda a bummer) my long awaited treasure was finally delivered. Earlier this month I was introduced to T+J Designs, a fabulous jewelry site, at the Lucky FABB conference I attended. Inside my swag bag was a rocker chic bracelet c/o T+J Designs. I was so stoked by the style of the bracelet that I decided to look into what other selections they had. On the site there is a wide variety of jewelry that is not only fun and unique, but trendy and chic. There were so many things I liked and could see myself wearing. Since statement necklaces are a huge staple in my jewelry collection, I decided to go that route.

After weighing my options I decided to go with the Luxe Brooch Pendant Necklace. The vintage inspired necklace has a timeless, classic feel to it. The topaz and gold tones are perfect for pairing with items in my fall wardrobe, especially my latest obsession.

Speaking of my latest obsession, I have been obsessing over scarves. Not to get too much into detail since I will write a vivid post about the lovely use of scarves one day, but this one in particular has been a real eye catcher to me. This oxblood inspired scarf was given to me from my cousin in law a few months back. She was letting go of so many clothes and gave me the option to scope some of them out before she bid them adieu. When I saw this scarf I knew I had to have it. Not only is the burgundy tone perfect for fall, the modern motif gives the silk scarf interest and depth. Layered over a shirt, it adds the perfect amount of color without being overwhelming.

As for my weekend activities so far, yesterday my family and I went to our church's annual picnic.  There were so many fun activities and delicious food around that we couldn't help ourselves but to indulge in it all. My husband decided that he was going to sign up for the hot dog eating contest. Of course I was the good wife and provided a bit of peer pressure for him to do it. Boy was I regretting that one. The entire time he was scarfing down the hot dogs, I was cringing that they weren't going to stay down. When he came back up for air, or was it me who was holding my breath, the moderator announced that my husband was the winner. I was shocked and a bit relieved that he was able to pull through and take first place, winning a $20 Target gift card. It wasn't that I didn't think he could do it, I was just worried about the upholstery of my car if he didn't keep it in.

Overall, the event was a huge hit even though by the end of the picnic there was a heavy overcast of clouds. The rain held off long enough for tear down/cleanup and for us to make it back home warm and dry. I appreciate that cloudy skies are considerate to fun outdoor events. Well, at least they are some of the time.

OxBlood Obsessed

Hello Lovelies!! It is officially the first day of fall and I am so happy for it! I love this season not just because my birthday is in it (big shout out to all the scorpios out there), but because of the beautiful warm tones to be seen and worn throughout the land. From the bronzy golds and blood orange reds to the fading greens and daffodil yellows, fall is a spectrum of stunning visual interest. Very poetic huh? Okay not so much, but I have to admit that there is something about the colors of fall that just make me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. That and a big cup of spiced hot apple cider. While we're on the topic of what's hot, right now, let's talk about my latest obsession...OxBlood.

Not literally of course. I like my ox cooked well done, thank you. Okay bad joke, but this deep red color also known as burgundy has been popping up everywhere. Its taken over jeans with a ravage roar and slapped the taste out of plain ol' black's mouth. It is a color not to be messed with, but a fabulous hue to have fun with. There are so many options and ways to incorporate this color into a wardrobe. From something as simple as an accent scarf to a bold pant or a sky high heel, oxblood can pump up any outfit from average to fierce. I plan on wearing this color a lot this season via lipstick, nail polish, pants, scarves, basically whatever I can get my hands on. In fact I have some oxblood chilling in my closet right not...or is it in the fridge?

Five Days of Compliments

Hello Lovelies! Last week I noticed a trend amongst my outfit selections. Not only did I manage to wear stripes almost everyday, but there is a pattern/color story. Throughout each outfit there is something in common. Whether it be the stripes or the color combination, my outfits for the week were a continuous blend. Talk about complimentary. Believe me when I say that it was not on purpose. No really. I honestly just put outfits together and walked out the door. It wasn't until Friday morning when I realized that my outfits were related. They could have been cousins, sisters, best friends. Yes, each outfit was a BFF to the other. One thing about BFFs, they sure know how to stick together. I like to think that me and my BFF compliment each other nicely.

Flower Power for Lunch

Hello Lovelies! NYFW is at an end (sniff, sniff) and though I wasn't able to see the fabulous runway shows in person (so sad) I am really enjoying reading the highlights online. After my amazing experience at the Lucky Fabb conference last week and meeting so many creative bloggers, I thought it was about time to pump up my personal style. So I decided to revamp my wardrobe with a bit of flair, including my lunch bag. I must admit I am one of those people who brings my lunch to work in one of those plastic grocery bags that seem to just build up in landfills and your house. Yes, I am guilty as charged. One for not being as green as I know I should be. Two for having a frumpy get-up for my deliciously chic lunch (if I do say so myself). Coincidentally, my friend Laura was having a "Thirty-one" trunk show. At first I was hesitant to go because I never heard of the company, but once she told me they sell bags, I was sold!

I'm such a "Lucky" Gal

Hello Lovelies! I am back with an exciting recap of my first bloggers conference, Lucky Fabb!! First let me say it was amazing!! They couldn't have had a better name for it. Lucky Fabb was exactly that. I felt so lucky to be amongst so many beautiful and talented bloggers (amazing Lucky mag editors and celebrity designers included). Throughout the day I felt fabulous with the product browsing and "shopping", brand giveaways, and the amazingly stuffed swag bag I got to take home. That's right ladies and gents no five finger deal for this bag LOL!!! Of course there are so many things I learned throughout the conference but the upmost lesson is...wait for it... CHARGE MY PHONE!! I couldn't believe I didn't charge my phone the night before or better yet on the train to NY. Honestly I must have been really on cloud nine. I did manage to take some pictures but my phone kept crying at me. This my friends is a sign that I am in DESPERATE need of a camera, and not just any camera but a good camera, one of the best. I am open to any and all suggestions. But enough of that, let's get into my recap! :)

Me in my fabulousness! LOL!! Autographs will be provided at the end of the blog post. :)

Cross your "T"s and Dot your "I"s

Hello Lovelies!! Yesterday I went to the Lucky FABB Conference in the fabulous NYC! I was so excited and nervous at the same time. There were so many talented and beautiful bloggers there. Not to mention guest celebrities and sponsoring brands. For my first blogger conference so I must admit it was it was an amazing great experience but a bit intimidating at first to talk with other bloggers who have been posting for much longer than I have. It was imperative that I crossed all my "t"s and dotted all my "i"s, much like this outfit.

Moonshine and Stylish Designs

Hello Lovelies!! I am sorry I've been M.I.A these past few days...okay so I haven't blogged in two weeks. I have a valid reason...no, really I do. My husband, our daughter and I just came back from a little family excursion through Tennessee and up the east coast for the labor day holiday. We visited my side of the family and made a few stops along the way. From the Smoky Mountains of Gatlinburg, TN where we discovered a moonshine distillery to the stylish boutiques of South Carolina our family road trip was filled with awe inspiring moments...and a few cocktails. Here is a sample tasting of the great scenery we took in.
