"here's your sweet lavender
sixteen sprigs a penny
that you'll find my ladies
will smell as sweet as any."
-Lavender Sellers's Cry, London, England, CA 1900
A few weeks ago ModCloth was having their "Cheers to the Future: Name it and Win it" contest. It consisted of giving a name to one of the dresses they posted up online. You were able to write three name options and if they picked one of your names you won that particular dress. For five straight days they posted a different dress on different platforms such as their blog on Monday, Twitter on Tuesday, and so on. By the time I heard about the contest it was Day 3, a dress posted on their Facebook page. The dress was modestly sweet. It had a scalloped neckline, bow in the front, and it was the cutest shade of Lavender. It had a very Cinderella meets MadMan feel to it. I absolutely loved it.

Remember these lovely wedges from my other post? I told you I could pair them with sooo many things. This is only the beginning. Looking at this dress, its dainty elegant threads spoke to me. I know it sounds crazy, but this demure little thing spoke words of simplicity and an old fashioned charismatic that only pearls and a vintage clutch with a pop of color would do.
I purchased this vintage clutch for my wedding at a consignment shop. The hand sewn pearls and sequins were ravishing in the store but when I got it out to the light...
The finished look is of a MadMan Cinderella or modern Dorothy.

They sparkled and gleamed the prettiest pinks, greens, and blues. Light danced off its gracefulness with the upmost lady like stature.

All I need now is Toto and a rainbow...
...Thanks ModCloth!
