The Epiphany

Hello fellow bloggers!! Almost one year ago I suddenly got the urge to blog. Join the community that I have been admiring for a long time. What is it that drew me to it you ask? Maybe it was fate, destiny, spilled milk. Actually, my epiphany happened over spilled milk. Let me explain. In July of 2011, I had a new found love for thrift shopping and my sewing machine. Now grant it I am not the best at sewing, but my seams manage to stay sewn. Browsing YouTube I found a video on how to make my own multi-wrap dress. You can find the link here. Needless to say GiannyL made it simple enough for me to follow, and heck I had some fabric I could use. So what did I do?

I MADE IT! Of course, I was praying the entire time that it came out okay, and surprisingly it did. I loved the detail of the pattern at the bottom and the solid on the top. The pattern concealed my...a-hem, "shake" rather well.

The final product was more than I could have expected from myself as a dress. How does it look on me you ask? Let me show you...

I know I look a hot mess, but don't look at me, look at the dress :) Please pardon my reflection pic, not the most flattering, but you get the point. Once I put it on, I fell in love. The look and feel of the dress made me so excited. It made me proud to wear something that I created, that actually looked good. So of course I just had to buy more fabric. Tee-hee.

But that was not my moment of revelation. After I created my beautiful masterpiece, I turned to see the mess I left on my kitchen table. Amongst my sewing machine there was a roll of measuring tape, fabric scraps, a saute pan (really random), and other knick-knacks that I won't go through. Then I saw it. There it was, resting its silky white paws on my cutting mat. The round, milky ring left behind from my daughter's sippy cup.

Of course part of me wanted to scream and shout and cry over the spilled milk (no pun intended), but then it hit me. I realized that I could talk about it. That I enjoyed fashion, style, DIY crafts, and thrift shopping. That I could be amongst the blogs and bloggers that I love so much and share things that I love and enjoy. Why not, I thought. So when all was said and done almost one year later here I am FINALLY starting my very own blog. I hope that I can keep this blog going and bring some smiles and the love of self expression to my fellow readers. So, what do you say? Want to tag along and be Accidentally Stylish w/ S.S. Milk? I hope you do!
